Want a Blu-ray drive? That’ll be $1,000 please!

Engadget has some preliminary information on two Blu-ray drives due out later on this year:
The price is just mind-bending - these drives will retail for between $850 and $1.050. That's a lot of notes to have to hand over to get these drives (wait a few months and the price is likely to fall dramatically).
On top of the price of the drive you'll need to figure into the equation the price of the discs, which I'm sure is going to bring a tear to the eye.
