PCs and passive smoking

I've just walked past a PC that here for repair that belongs to a family member that smokes and I nearly died from the smell coming from it.
He's had the PC a few months and just by walking past it I feel like I'm passive smoking more that is good for my health. I don't smoke but equally I'm not that bothered by people who smoke, but this PC really bothers me. I'm pretty sure that it's blowing smoke rings at me.
The system could do with a good clean inside as it's all coated in a nasty brown oily substance that seems to act as glue for the dust, but I ain't cleaning it.
