Activating Windows Vista without an Internet connection

Can you still activate Windows Vista without an Internet connection?

Yes, just as with Windows XP, it's possible to activate Windows Vista over the phone if you don't have an Internet connection.  The process also remains the same:

  • Dial a number (the number varies depending on your location)
  • You now need to enter a 50-digit ID code (you can do this using the telephone's keypad or by speaking to a Microsoft representative)
  • You're then given a 42-digit key which you have to enter into the dialog box
  • Click Next followed by OK (don't, whatever you do, hit cancel by accident because you'll have to re-enter the 42-digit key)
