How to record the Wave Out Mix in Windows Vista

January 16th, 2007

How do I record the sound card output in Windows Vista?  I knew how to do this under Windows XP but I can't figure it out in Vista.

It's still possible to do this under Vista, it's just not as easy!

  • Click on Start > Control Panel.
  • Click on Hardware and Sound.
  • Click on Sound.
  • Click on the Recording tab.
  • Pick a blank area and right-click and select Show Disabled Devices.
  • Right-click on Wave Out mix and select Enable.
  • That's it, you'll be able to use that device in sound capture apps.

Job done!
