Desktop Cleanup Wizard bothering you?

June 12th, 2005

Do you occasionally get a message from Desktop Cleanup Wizard wanting to help you remove files and icons from your desktop? And do you always say "no"? If so, here's a tip for you:

  1. Start - Run, then type Regedit
  2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
    CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\CleanupWiz
  3. Edit/create the DWORD called NoRun. Set this to 0 to disable the wizard to 1 to re-enable it.
  4. Close Registry Editor and reboot.
