HP recalls 15,700 notebook batteries

Hewlett-Packard is recalling around 15,700 HP and Compaq notebook batteries sold worldwide because they represent a burn and fire hazard.  This comes after HP received 20 reports of batteries overheating.

Notebooks involved in the recall are:

  • HP Pavilion, series dv1xxx and ze2xxx
  • HP Compaq, series nx48xx
  • Compaq Presario, series V2xxx and M2xxx

All the affected batteries have a bar code label that starts L3.
