Disney brand DVD players involved in product recall

April 20th, 2006

I normally don't cover much in the way of product recalls here (unless it's tech related) but this one is worth spreading the word about.

Disney DVD player

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall notice for Disney brand portable DVD players because Chinese-made battery packs sold with the players can overheat and possibly burst.  So if you've bought one of these for Junior then it's time to pry it from their sticky hands and take it back tot he store.

In an interesting twist, the Chinese manufacturer of batteries at the center of this recall have said that there's no proof that it was their batteries used in the product.  Nonetheless, the advice current is to discontinue using this device and take it back to the store for a refund.
