SplitView quick review
March 23rd, 2006
Today I received a copy of SplitView by Vyooh. I’ve been using this for a few hours so I thought I’d pass on a few of my thoughts.
SplitView is an application that claims to increase your productivity by making it easier to work with two applications is a side-by-side orientation. The idea is that you get the feeling of dual monitors without the hardware.
The idea behind SplitView is simple – it adds two new menu items to each system menu window.
You click on Go Left and the application maximizes to the left-hand side of the screen. Click Go Right and the application goes to the right-hand side of the screen.
Simple.
It can also tile application vertically instead of horizontally (this is better suited to applications such as word processors).
Overall, I can report that SplitView does what it promises to do, and that on my laptop I actually find it to be pretty useful. I’ve been setting up application windows like this by hand for years to make the best use of screen real estate, now I just need to click on a link and it’s handled for me.
I’ll have some more thoughts on SplitView later after I’ve used it for a few days, but for now I’m already finding it to be a useful addition to my laptop.
SplitView costs $19 and there is a free 30–day trial available fro download from the SplitView website.
