43 Folders has a very interesting and informative series of articles on coping with email. The series is called “Zero inbox” and looks at how you take your inbox from being stuffed to zero.
There’s a lot of good stuff and here are some of my favorite posts:
For a long time now I’ve operated with a DMZ folder in my inbox – a place where some emails go that I don’t want to delete but that I know that I’m unlikely to ever bother dealing with. Emails linger in the DMZ until I think that it’s getting too full and then I cull them. Occasionally I come across an email that I decide that I will deal with and then I’m glad I didn’t delete it.
