Engadget: “Refilling printer ink cartridges: crime?”

The news that Lexmark can enforce the single use only policy written on the side of their printer cartridge boxes hit the web yesterday:
"A recent court victory was handed to Lexmark, which reportedly gives them the power under contract and patent law to enforce the “single use only� policy written on the side of Lexmark printer cartridge boxes. This means you could technically face legal charges for refilling a Lexmark printer cartridge with third-party ink."

All I can really add to this is that Lexmark has long been known for cheap (did I hear someone add "low-quality") printers where they make their money back on the cartridges and I'm not surprised by this move.
Bear this ruling in mind the next time you buy a printer!
